On June 13th, we had the pleasure of hosting Monique Tallon, CEO of Highest Path Consulting and the author of Leading Gracefully: A Woman’s Guide to Confident, Authentic and Effective Leadership for a two-hour long workshop for the women at PWN Paris.

Travelling all the way from the United States, Monique graciously presented her new model of leadership for women called the Feminine Leadership ModelTM, which combines the strengths women bring to the table such as empathy, intuition, and collaboration with traditional leadership qualities like being assertive, decisive and resilient. This new roadmap allows women to show up as authentic leaders with more impact versus emulating traditional models of leadership that have been more prevalent in the last few decades in the world of business.

Monique explained why her model of leadership is the model of the future, not only for women but also for men. As we have shifted from the Industrial age of the 20th century, which required top-down, hierarchical leadership structures, to the current Age of Information, which requires people in organizations to work together more collaboratively, those outdated models don’t fit. In fact, leaders that exhibit qualities that inspire trust, safety and participative decision making on teams build higher performing teams than those that do not. Research also shows that women tend to display those leadership behaviors that drive organizational performance more often than men. When 66,000 people around the globe were asked what type of leadership qualities they desired to see in their leaders today, two-thirds of respondents preferred qualities like long term thinking, being transparent, loyal, intuitive and collaborative…which begs the question should men think more like women?

The workshop included interactive exercises for participants to identify their current leadership style and impact looking at the 4 Quadrants of Leadership that Monique has developed as well as practical applications to understand how to apply the Feminine Leadership ModelTM in every day work situations. Participants walked away with a better understanding of the behavioural areas they can develop to become more effective and impactful leaders in the various organizations and associations they work for, and left energized and inspired after the workshop.
